Camp One

Location: Gold Coast, QLD

Dates: Friday November 5th to Sunday 14th November 2021

Paddle 2 Fitness are planning three SURF SKI CAMPS for 2021.

In Camp One, paddlers will experience a magnificent week of ocean paddling on the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast is home to the best ocean ski paddlers in the world. With perfect beaches and numerous paddling locations (ocean, creeks, canals and Hinze Dam), one week might not be long enough. There is no better place in the world to come and perfect your paddling technique as well as safely learn downwind / open water skills.

Our camps will take in the sights of the Gold Coast and include 5 days of different paddling adventures finishing off with our Paddle 2 Fitness Downwind virtual ocean ski race on the Saturday. This will be a 15km event where we all start together and paddler record their own times on their smart watches.

The Gold Coast is Australia’s ‘play ground’ offers a relaxed holiday environment with an abundance of restaurants and cafes. Whilst not on the water paddling you can enjoy Gold Coast life or sit back and relax at the restaurants and cafes.

Families and non-paddling partners are welcomed.

 

Itinerary

Below is a rough guide of the itinerary, which will be dependent on wind and weather conditions and may change.

Friday 5th November 2021

  • Arrive at Gold Coast

 

Saturday 6th November 2021

  • Set up surf skis and go for an open water paddle

 

Sunday 7th Novembers 2021

  • RACE @ Paddle Queensland Ocean Racing Championships

 

Monday 8th November 2021

  • Paddle 2 Fitness squad session @ Varsity Lakes 5:15am – 6:45am
    • Followed by a group breakfast
  • Open Water Session @ Winders Park Currumbin 2pm

 

Tuesday 9th November 2021

  • 2pm Downwinder
    • Coolangatta to Currumbin Creek (12km)
    • Meet at Winders Park @ 1:00pm to load trailer / carpool
  • Paddle 2 Fitness squad session @ Winders Park 3:30am – 4:30am

 

Wednesday 10th November 2021

  • Morning paddle @ Hinze Dam 7am inc BBQ breakfast
  • Masterclass Classroom Session 4-6pm (location TBA)

 

Thursday 11th November 2021

  • 2pm Downwinder
    • Seaway to Miami SLSC  or Coolangatta to Burleigh SLSC (12km)
    • Meet at Miami or Burleigh SLSC @ 1:00pm to load trailer / carpool

 

Friday 12th November 2021

  • Paddle 2 Fitness squad session @ Winders Park 7:30am – 8:45am
    • Followed by a group breakfast
  • Open Water Session 2pm Winders Park Currumbin

 

Saturday 13th November 2021

  • Paddle 2 Fitness Virtual Downwind
    • Seaway to Miami SLSC  or Coolangatta to Miami SLSC (15km)
    • Meet at Miami SLSC @ 11:30am to load trailer / carpool
    • Event Start 1pm
  • 2021 Coolangatta Gold – Short Course

 

Sunday 14th November 2021

  • Leave at Gold Coast
  • 2021 Coolangatta Gold – Long Course

The Cost

Cost: $750 per person

The trip includes:

  • An amazing week of paddling on the Gold Coast and surrounding areas
  • Expertise downwind, technical and training advice/coaching
  • A free ‘I survived Paddle 2 Fitness’s Surf Ski Camp’ SharkSkin Rapid Dry short sleeve top
  • Use of double ocean surf skis
  • Transport to various paddling locations (carpooling maybe needed)
  • The experience of one of the most experienced surf ski coaches and podcaster in the country, Julian Norton-Smith

 

*Ski hire is available but we have a limited number of equipment. If interested, we suggest to contact us asap. $300 for the week

*Please note flights and accommodation are not included and you are responsible for booking these. For interstate paddlers you can fly in and out of Gold Coast Airport. See below information for accommodation options.

*Entry to the virtual downwind event is included.

*Group breakfasts are not included

Most of our paddling will be in the middle / southern end of the Gold Coast. We suggest looking in the areas of:

  • Broadbeach
  • Burleigh Heads
  • Palm Beach
  • Currumbin
